Childcare is an important need in the community, particularly for military families with one or both parents deployed. The Fort Carson Regional Growth Plan will assess the adequacy of existing childcare and development services and will quantify the social and economic impact of the childcare industry to Fort Carson families. Projected increases in families and children will be used to estimate the future impact.
From an economic perspective, childcare is important because it enhances and expands the available labor force and makes it more productive. The Growth Plan will also determine how the availability of childcare/child development services influences the ability of military spouses to work outside of the home. It will help to determine the value that the industry provides to parents who work outside of the home and the revenues contributed to the economy directly by the childcare industry.
