The arrival of new troops and their families to Fort Carson will result in significant economic impacts to the region. The Fort Carson Regional Growth Plan will serve two main purposes related to economic development.
First, it will assess the current and future economic and fiscal effects of Fort Carson on the region and state. Second, it will develop key statistical relationships between activities at Fort Carson (including postings and the demographics of Fort Carson personnel and families, as well as other variables) and broader outcomes in the state and region (e.g. total employment by sector, service demands and government revenues).
Ultimately, the research conducted will make it easier and faster for the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG) to project the economic and fiscal effects of variables like postings and deployments.
An Economic Impacts Partnership Group comprised of representatives from the economic development sector meets regularly to help inform this analysis.
In a related but separate effort, a sustainability vision and action plan for economic development will also be developed with the help of the Sustainability/Quality of Life Partnership Group .
