Meetings will be held in a hybrid format to allow in-person attendance as well as a remote option.

AGENDA ITEM 1: CALL TO ORDER / ESTABLISH A QUORUM / INTRODUCTIONS

Chair Sharon Thompson called the meeting to order at 9:00am. A quorum was established.

AGENDA ITEM 2: AGENDA APPROVAL

Erik Stone moved the approval of the agenda, seconded by John Graham. The motion carried unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM 3: INTRODUCTIONS/PUBLIC COMMENTS/PRESENTATIONS

  1. Public Comments. Public comments can be made before or during the meeting. Public comments during the meeting is limited to three minutes and can be done at the meeting location or remotely by using the posted Microsoft Teams link. Individuals are encouraged to notify the meeting organizer at ppacg@ppacg.org before the start of the meeting with the agenda item they would like to comment on. Public comments can be submitted before the meeting via email to ppacg@ppacg.org for distribution to the committee members.
    • Jody Barker announced that the Regional Advisory Committee will hold a meeting on September 26, 2024, at 10am and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Older Coloradan’s Act. The board is invited to attend.
  2. Military Installation Reports
    • Colonel Daniel Werner announced that Unites States Air Force Academy that the North Gate and Pine Drive construction is completed. Parent’s Day Weekend will be held on August 30, 2024, and their football season will start. Lt Gen Tony Bauernfeind is the new Superintendent.  
    • Jeff Bohn announced that Peterson’s North Gate guard facility replacement is on time and should be completed mid-October. Space Base Delta One signed the REPI matched endorsement letter August 8, 2024. They also hosted Senator Bennet, Military Advisor and Regional Representative for an orientation focused on critical infrastructure on August 7, 2024. Schriever Air Force Base celebrated the completion of a 6-year, $17 million medical clinic. The fitness center expansion is on time and has an 18-month completion date. The parking lot repaving project has had some disruption, please give yourself extended time to find parking. Peterson employees are embracing the Powers/Airport interchange project. Schriever Air Force Base is hosting a group of members from the cybersecurity and infrastructure agency and are speaking with regional utility providers that support their military installations.
    • Sharon Thompson announced that Powers Boulevard will be closed intermittently Friday and Saturday for the Pikes Peak Regional Air Show.
    • Andrew Gunning announced that the City of Colorado Springs received a $10.7 million grant from the Defense Community Infrastructure Program. The project is $15.3 million total.

Erik Stone moved to approve the consent item, seconded by John Graham. The motion carried unanimously.

    Mayor Sharon Thompson (Chair), Commissioner Holly Williams (1st Vice Chair), Commissioner Erik Stone (2nd Vice Chair), Mayor Kellie Case (Treasurer), Mayor Todd Dixon (Secretary)
    Holly Williams made a motion to approve the item, seconded by Glant Havenar. The motion carried unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM 8: MEMBER ENTITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Kellie Case announced that the Salute to American Veteran’s Rally will be held August 16-17, 2024.
  • John Graham received an invitation from CCI for a discussion on wildfire and wildfire insurance on August 21, 2024, from 4-5pm. The Commonwheel Artist Labor Day Festival will be held on August 31-Septemebr 2, 2024.
  • Sharon Thompson announced the Ballon Festival will be held from August 31-September 2, 2024. The City of Foutain will host the annual Fountain Fall Festival on September 2, 2024.
  • Glant Havenar announced the Palmer Lake Wine Festival will be held on September 14, 2024.
