SUMMARY
Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG) is currently in development of the 2050 Pikes Peak Area Long Range Transportation Plan. At this time, we would like to provide an update for the Board of Directors.
Background
As the federally designated metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for the Colorado Springs area, PPACG is responsible for developing and maintaining a regional LRTP. LRTPs are required to comply with federal and state laws for regional and statewide planning, in order for projects to be eligible for federal transportation funding.
The LRTP is a strategic document for the Pikes Peak region that identifies current and future transportation needs and outlines transportation investments over the next 25 years. The next LRTP, the 2050 Pikes Peak Area Regional Transportation Plan, is scheduled for adoption in January 2025. However, the development of the LRTP is a multiyear process that includes many subplans and elements.
