SUBJECT: Active Transportation Plan Adoption

ACTION REQUESTED: Review & Recommend

SUMMARY

AA final draft Active Transportation Plan has been prepared for review and recommendation. Preparation of the document has involved –

  • Data collection, existing conditions, review of past & present member government plans for an informed process
  • An extensive stakeholder process, including member governments, community organizations, schools and colleges, and others
  • 2 phases of public involvement; the federally required 30-day public comment period has recently concluded (results will be presented)
  • Demand analysis, safety analysis
  • Creation of a regional multi-use trail network and priority network
  • Recommended trail cross sections for regional consistency
  • Identification of gaps and opportunities for connecting existing trails, communities, and regional destinations
  • Preparation of funding guidance

The Active Transportation Plan has previously gone before CAC in February, May, and August this year. The Plan also went to the TAC several times and was the subject of a TAC workshop in April.

The project team is now seeking the CAC’s formal recommendation for adoption by the PPACG Board of Directors.

PROPOSED MOTION

Recommend approval.
