The Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging’s Senior Insurance Assistance is the State Health Insurance Assistance Program office which serves nine counties in south central Colorado: El Paso, Park, Teller, Chaffee, Custer, Fremont, Huerfano, Lake and Las Animas counties.
Our trained staff and volunteers provide free educational classes and presentations around the Pikes Peak region, in order to help you better understand Medicare and your health insurance benefits. Our goal is to help you become a more informed insurance consumer by knowing what benefits options are available to you and enabling you to make more informed health insurance choices.
We are also available to review your current insurance coverage, ensuring you receive the coverage that works best for your personal situation, at no cost to you. This is funded through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Our staff and volunteers are trained in all types of insurance, including: Medicare supplements, employer group health plans and Medicare Advantage plans, as well as Medicare Part D pharmacy benefits. Our counselors are also available to help with your annual review and make any insurance plan changes you require.
We can also guide you through the long-term care insurance process and provide assistance in completing applications and other forms for most Medicaid programs for those ages 60 and over, or on Medicare due to disability.
Senior Insurance Assistance does not sell or endorse any insurance, and does not work on commission. We are advocates for those over 60 and those on Medicare.
Call (719) 471-2096 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
You can also call toll-free at 1 (888) 696-7213 to speak to a SHIP counselor near you.
