Summer is here and with it comes all the things we wait for during the colder months: sunshine, fresh air, green grass, blooming flowers, and weekends that make you want to get outside and actually do something.

As you start filling your calendar with backyard BBQs, morning hikes and farmers markets, consider saving one weekend for something meaningful that could make a real difference for someone in your community.

That’s where the Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging’s Outdoor Chore Program comes in.

Our volunteers help older adults with seasonal yard work like raking leaves, pulling weeds, sweeping walkways, trimming overgrown areas, and other maintenance tasks that can become difficult to manage for our aging neighbors.

Enjoy time outside alongside other good-hearted people while you get fresh air, sunshine and the satisfaction of seeing an immediate difference when the work is done. Small chores make a big impact.

The best part? You don’t need to be a landscaping expert or commit every weekend of your summer. Whether you volunteer once, bring a group of friends, join with your family, or make it a regular activity, every helping hand matters.

The area agency on aging provides the tools, organizes the projects, and helps coordinate everything ahead of time. All you have to do is show up and enjoy the impact a few hours of your time is going to make.

Add a weekend to your summer plans for helping your older neighbors stay living independently in the homes they love and have some fun volunteering for the area agency on aging
