The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG), with the support of communities and advocates throughout the Pikes Peak Region, has led the development of this Active Transportation Master Plan. This plan does not supersede or replace local planning efforts completed by member jurisdictions. It is intended to provide illumination of challenges and opportunities when those plans are viewed through a regional lens. The plan leverages this perspective to identify relevant tools that might support member jurisdictions in implementing local projects, while recognizing that relevant facilities and users do not necessarily recognize jurisdictional boundaries.
This plan was voluntarily undertaken through the guidance of PPACG members and is not specifically required. As such, it is intended to become an element or component plan of the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) being concurrently developed. The LRTP is required and will develop a comprehensive multimodal plan for transportation improvements within the region. It also does not replace local planning efforts, but collects and collates these efforts to identify a fiscally constrained program of projects which feed the TIP process.
