2023-005Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)Pikes Peak Area MPOColorado Avenue Roadway ImprovementsColorado Avenue Roadway Improvements 31st St to Limit St – 31st Street to Limit Street. This portion of Colorado Avenue is currently under study which will identify specific transportation improvements for Colorado Avenue between 31st Street and Cimino Drive. Since Colorado Avenue in the LRTP is limited to the section between 33rd Street and Limit Street the project limits have been adjusted to only include the section within these limits. As identified in the LRTP, the project could involve the conversion of segments of Colorado Avenue from a four lane road to a three lane road with the center lane being a two way left turn lane to improve safety and traffic flow. The study will also identify operational and safety improvements for the corridor. The project will enhance ADA accessibility with curb, gutter, sidewalk, and ramp improvements. Stormwater, conduit/telecommunications, and utility improvements are also part of the project.Roadway Operational ImprovementsSafety ImprovementsColorado SpringsFunded2050 Planning Cycle2030
2023-007Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)Pikes Peak Area MPOSpruce Mountain Rd. Improvement ProjectSpruce Mountain Rd. from W. Perry Park Rd. to Douglas County Line. Intersects with County Line Rd. – Spruce Mountain Rd. is a principal arterial that connects Palmer Lake with Larkspur, it is also heavily used when I-25 backs up.  Currently it is configured as a two-lane road and has no shoulder on either side of the road. Improvements will include a new driving surface as well as a bike lane.  Safety improvements will be turn lanes onto County Line Rd, which will improve traffic flow when there is a train. The rest of the 2100 ft will still be a 2 lane but shoulders be widen and a bike added on one side. The roadway itself is very old and still has concrete under the pavement that used to be the Old Denver Hwy. which is creating heaves in the roadway. These improvements will help ease the congestion when the Interstate is backed up. Roadway ReconstructionSafety ImprovementsPalmer LakeFunded2050 Planning Cycle2030

2021-009Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)Pikes Peak Area MPOGalley Road SidewalksAs part of a larger project that EPC has been funding and completing in phases, this project would design a new bridge to replace a Texas low water crossing.  At this time, stormwater flows over the road at the intersection and drains into Sand Creek.  The project will design a bridge or box culvert to convey the stormwater under the road to allow for safe multimodal traffic across the intersection that meets current ADA standards.  While we are confident we can complete the design, we hope to obtain ROW and potentially relocate utilities.  However the funding needed for ROW and utilities is estimated at this time.   The intent of the project is to create a shovel-ready construction project.Bicycle and PedestrianEl Paso CountyFunded2050 Planning Cycle2030

2021-020Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)Pikes Peak Area MPOColorado Springs Signalized Crossings at Rock Island Trail and Murray Blvd., Shooks Run at Uintah St., and Dublin Park Trail at Dublin Blvd.Rock Island at Murray: add a signalized crossing to the Rock Island Trail at N. Murray Blvd in Colorado Springs. Where currently only a marked crosswalk exists, the new signalized crossing will allow trail users to initiate a signal change to stop all vehicular traffic for safe crossing.  Shooks Run: add a signalized crossing and improve the alignment of the Shooks Run Trail at Uintah Street in Colorado Springs. Currently trail users are expected to bypass the midblock crossing at Uintah and are rerouted through the signalized intersection at El Paso, which is not ADA compliant and substandard for a trail intersection. realign the crossing closer to the original railroad alignment and improve safety by adding a signalized crossing, crosswalk, and 10-feet wide ADA compliant ramps at Uintah. Dublin Park: Improved and safer trail crossing between the north and south legs of the Dublin Park Connector Trail (a neighborhood, park trail) on either side of Dublin Blvd, .5 miles east of Academy Blvd. These improvements would include a painted crosswalk, a full traffic signal with ADA-compliant pedestrian call buttons, and ADA-compliant curb ramps.Bicycle and PedestrianColorado SpringsFunded2045 Planning Cycle2040

The rest of the 2100 ft will still be a 2 lane but shoulders be widen and a bike added on one side. The roadway itself is very old and still has concrete under the pavement that used to be the Old Denver Hwy. which is creating heaves in the roadway.
