SUBJECT: Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments Annual Safety Target Setting 2025

SUMMARY
Federal regulation requires Departments of Transportation and Metropolitan Planning Organizations to establish new safety targets every year based on updated data. As a Metropolitan Planning Organization, we can either support targets set by the state department of transportation or set regional targets based on data only within our Metropolitan Planning Organization boundary.
David Swenka, Colorado Department of Transportation, PE PTOE Safety Programs, Data and Analysis Traffic Safety and Engineering Services, has provided the attached targets for 2025.
BACKGROUND
The previous targets approved by Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments committees in were those set by the state.
